After spending 14 years at Singtel as a Global Account Manager, and helping the company earn millions; Siew Yian wanted more than being a jetsetter and sipping wine at 5-star hotels. Despite the corporate achievements, she felt that something was missing in her life. Hence, in 2014, to the surprise of family and friends, she decided to leave her successful career.
She has since been travelling extensively in Asia (Cambodia, Indonesia, and the borders of Thailand-Myanmar) to serve the marginalised.
In May 2015, she went to Nepal after a major earthquake to help with relief work and emergency food distribution, supported by Singapore Red Cross.
Siew Yian believes that we can create positive impact just by connecting people. Siew Yian aspires to sharing her fundamental belief: everyone can do something to help impact lives.
Siew Yian is working full time at the Singapore International Foundation since September 2021.
